Portugal Forest Fires Kill At Least 58 People
People have been killed in the blazes across Portugal - See more details below.
It's being reported that at least 58 people have been killed after dozens of fires spread across central Portugal.
The Portuguese Government has since confirmed that many of the victims died in their cars, getting caught up in the blaze with the flames spreading over the roads.
There are around 600 firefighters who are battling the flames along - six of which have been injured.
There are another 59 people who have been hurt in the fires - 14 of which are in a serious condition.
Interior Ministry Official, Jorge Gomes has said - "The smoke cloud is very low and this doesn't allow the helicopters and fire planes to work as efficiently but we're doing everything possible and impossible to put out this fire."
Officials have also said that the likely cause of the fires is a lightning strike which started the flames.
Spain has sent two water-bombing planes to help fight against the fires and a number of villages in surrounding areas are also being evacuated due to the danger.
