Supermarket Shortage - Lettuce and Broccoli Shortage

Supermarket Shortage - Lettuce and Broccoli Shortage

UK Supermarkets are facing a shortage of vegetable and fruit due to weather conditions…

Vegetables and some fruits are being rationed across supermarkets in the UK - with Lettuce, Broccoli and Cabbage being the main shortage, at the moment.

This is due to the extreme and freezing weather conditions in countries such as Greece, Spain, Italy and Turkey, where many of the items are sourced, with the weather having hit farmers in the bad way and not allowing them to produce the required amount of stock which is necessary to export.

The worst part? It's not only the items mentioned above - Peppers, Aubergines, Courgettes, Baby Spinach, Cauliflower, Cucumber, Tomatoes and even Lemon and Oranges are in danger.

Morrisons is one of the first supermarkets to take it's stance - limiting the amount of items one customers can buy to ensure there is enough supply for most people.

This is a growing concern due to the weather changes but with the current demand and low supply - prices could rise for the items.
