Monte Carlo Locked Down After Armed Robbery in Cartier
Monte Carlo locked down as armed robbers raid Cartier after starting a huge fire.

Monaco is known for hosting the annual Monaco Grand Prix and is considered as the "playground" for the rich and famous with many, many high-end luxury brands.
It's being reported that at least three gangsters - believed to be a part of a criminal group, rushed into the Cartier store after starting a fire nearby as a distraction for the emergency services.

Monte-Carlo then went into lockdown with the famous casino shutting and shops pulling down their security screens as a precaution - people in nearby cafe's were also told to remain inside for their safety.
According to sources - one of the robbers has been wounded by police whilst another was on the run following the heist - Police have also launched a huge manhunt for the third man who is believed to be a part of the organised group who was last seen running away from the distraction fire in the tunnel near the Cartier store.

There is no estimate for the value of jewellery which was taken during the heist.
Organised crime groups are on the rise - with one being called the Pink Panthers and made up of ex-soldiers from Balkan countries like Serbia who regularly strike there.

In 2015 in nearby Cannes - the Cartier boutique located there was attacked by robbers who managed to get away with an estimated worth of £15million in goods.
