Vietri from Turin in Northern Italy has designed the world's first shoes in 24-carat gold looking to reach the high-end Gulf Fashion Market and to be precise - oil-rich states like United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Saying - "These are the first shoes in the world that are in 24-carat gold - the particularity of these shoes is that the gold is not simply applied, it's not like an accessory or a button. Gold is a part of the shoe."
The shoes have been designed in a specific way to ensure that not only do they look good but they feel great too - every little detail has been taken care of.
Small strips of gold are woven - by hand and sewn with the leather to ensure that the shoes will be comfortable and that the right balance was found.
Vietri said - "The difficulty (in making the shoes) was in finding the right balance between the strength of the gold and the flexibility of the shoe. If the shoe is too light, the gold will bend and if the shoe is too heavy - then it will hurt."
It's been a long time in the making and every shoe is made with 230 grams of gold and to ensure it's one-of-a-kind, the shoes are made to measure using a 3D foot scanner!
Don't think that these shoes come cheap - they're only for the rich as the mens version retail at 25.000 euro (approximately $27.000) and the women's line at 30.000 euro!!
Not only that - the price also includes delivery by helicopter with the shoes being presented in a black lacquered box (first picture).
Vietri doesn't just focus on these shoes, he also has other ranges - a more traditional range which retails at around 250 euros and another range in which he works with artists from around the world to create unique designs.
The luxury collection Vietri has features beautiful silk pumps which are embellished with gold or silver and customers can also decorate their chosen shoes with pearls or diamonds - talk about luxury living!
