Turkish Plane Skids Off Runway
A sudden surge of power has caused a passenger plane (pictured above) to skid off the runway - ending up stuck on a muddy cliff.
See all the details below.
According to numerous reports, a sudden surge of power in one of the engines in the passenger jet (pictured above) caused the plane to skid off the end of the runway - with it's wheels getting stuck on a muddy cliff.
The plane landed normally at Trabzon Airport in Turkey however went off-course, off the runway and lodged onto the cliff.
All 162 passengers were safely evacuated from the plane which has since been secured with a cable to stop the plane from moving or sliding into the sea - despite it's wheels being stuck.
The plane's black box will be examined by Turkey's civil aviation as officials have started work to remove the aircraft from the cliff today.
The pilots have also been breathalysed, with one pilot reportedly saying - "When we were going to make our usual manoeuvre toward the right from the seaside by reducing our speed, suddenly - it (the plane) gained speed for a reason we do not know. Due to this speed, the plane got out of control and suddenly we swung to the left and got stuck in the mud on the cliff."
