Driving Test Change - Learners must be able to use a Sat Nav instead of 'reversing around a corner'.

Learner drivers will have to be able to use and follow the directions of a Sat Nav to pass their driving test under a new change.

The driving test changes will come into play on the 4th December and we can say goodbye to 'reversing around the corner' as that doesn't really matter in driving, as long as you can use and follow a Sat Nav - you'll be fine.

The DVLA thinks that the new test will provide "more real life scenarios" rather than parking and reversing out of driving spaces……..

What's worse is the fact that the RAC Foundation echoed the DVLA by saying this would be a "far more realistic assessment".

Examiners will be testing the driver's ability for using and following a Sat Nav as an alternative to following the road signs.

Questions that were asked prior to the driving test will now be asked on the drive.

The driving test time will also be increased to 20 minutes instead of 10 minutes and along with the Sat Nav test, the examiner will be asking the driver questions and asking them to do various things such as using the rear windscreen wipers.

The increased time in the test and the questions will allow the examiner to assess the driver's ability, on driving safely and will also allow the examiner to see how the driver will handle different situations and how they will react to being distracted.
